Donor Unit Manager - DUM

1- About ADEW

The Association for the Development and Enhancement of Women (ADEW) began in 1987 as the dream of a group of young Egyptian activists. Over the years, ADEW has become a leading feminist NGO committed to promoting women’s development and rights in the social, legal and economic spheres.

From its inception, ADEW distinguished itself through its commitment to promoting the rights of marginalized women and challenging traditional taboos and mores. ADEW was the first NGO to address the needs of Female Heads of Households (FHH) and identify them as a distinct target group.

2. Job Description

The role of the Donor Unit Manager is to ensure that the donor unit meets its fundraising goals and reporting requirements. This includes research from the field offices, writing proposals and reports, data collection, compiling needed information from program managers and others within the organization and conducting regular field visits to ensure that projects are taking place in accordance with their plans of action.

3. Responsibilities & Duties

Fundraising & Communications

• Identifying and contacting new funding possibilities; this includes but is not limited to international donors, banks, business men and CSR communities.
• Conducting online research to find potential donors, to build contacts among individual donors and to develop a donor database.
• Respond to donors' call for proposals by developing and writing grant proposals.
• Representing ADEW at donor meetings.
• Bringing new ideas for fundraising.
• Ensure effective relationships with donors and management of donor-funded projects according to the signed agreement/contract.
• Maintain organized soft copies of all fundraising information on the ADEW internal system.
• Ensuring that the website information is up to date.
• Acting as a contact person between the Donor and the project manager.
• Providing monthly plans and monthly reports on achievements.
• Preparing the Donor Unit annual strategy; which includes future fundraising plans, execution tools and new monitoring methodologies, to be submitted on November of the actual year.
• Managing all aspects related to fundraising for the organization.
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
• Developing the overall framework for the projects, for example, timeframe, action plan, lessons-learned and successful stories.
• Working closely with project managers, financial controllers, and technical staff to provide technical guidance and ensure that the implementation of activities is in accordance with the action plan.
• Providing guidance to ensure that M&E plans are consistent with the projects' action plan by including measurable indicators.
• Conducting field visits to monitor and evaluate the progress of programs and the implementation of projects' activities on a regular basis.
• Developing field visit reports to evaluate the performance of the implementation of project action plans; stating all observations, recommendations and future plans.
• Reviewing monthly, interim and final reports prepared by project managers before its submission to the donor.

Additional tasks

• Assist in developing communications material for ADEW such as brochures, and posters, etc.
• Assist in translation as required.
• Assist in organizing events as required.
• Carry out any additional assignments as required from direct manager, and the chairperson.
• Adhere to ADEW's Code of Ethics.

4. Qualifications:


• Master degree in social studies, international relations or political science.
• B.A. in a relevant field, preferably in Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Relations, Gender Studies, or Political Science

Experience and Requirements

• 7 years of relevant experience in the field of development is required.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
• Strong oral, writing, presentation and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively with persons of diverse economic, cultural and social backgrounds.
• Ability to work under deadlines and to meet deadlines.
• Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively in oral and written communications.
• Excellent research skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
